On Thursday, @shetland_arts kicked off Shetland Noir 2026 with some of the biggest names in crime fiction. We asked long time Shetland-visitor Ann Cleeves what keeps her coming back and first time visitors Louise Penny and Lee Child what they’ve thought of Shetland so far.
In the latest film in our series with TV presenter Kate Humble in Shetland, she visits North Yell to discover how a strong sense of community, creativity and enterprise is helping shape the future of one of Shetland's North Isles' communities.⁠ ⁠ The film explores how North Yell's entrepreneurial spirit is supported by the North Yell Development Council, whose community-owned wind farm generates income that is reinvested locally. Fancy seeing some Shetland-inspired art? Pop along to the UHI Shetland Gremista campus to see some amazing artwork done by talented students based in the Shetland Isles. ⁠ ⁠ We had the chance to speak to the students and learn more about their art styles, inspiration and how they feel studying in Shetland.
